Puppy Time

Introducing Holly.

We picked her up a week ago and time has flown ever since.  It's a bit like having a toddler around again.  Very cute and fun and time consuming.

Off to explore the paddock, so small yet so confident.

Holly meeting her two new big brothers, Luke and Beau.  Her way of winning everyone over, be they dog, cat or human is to wag her tail furiously until it's just a blur.

Beau getting down to her level to show he can play like a puppy too.

Sunrise

Sometimes getting up early isn't such a bad thing.

With autumn underway sunrise isn't as early as it was in summer.

A storm had been predicted and these were the early clouds arriving before the day got underway.

ABC Wednesday - J

This weeks 'J' is for Jasmine.

A delightful climber that is a joy to have in the garden for its jolly star shaped flowers and delicious scent.

The Jasmine plant loves to climb and is just reaching over the top of the archway my son built for me.

Signs of Autumn

Autumn has arrived with warm rainy days and cooler nights. The leaves are building up along the fences.

The trees are getting that bare, "closed for winter" appearance.

The driveway is transforming from green grass to autumn leaves.  Time to harvest what's left in the orchard and garden and move indoors.

ABC Wednesday - I

Impatiens

This intriguing little annual is an ideal plant for pots or gardens in shady or sunny areas.  There are lots of individual varieties but I like the ice white in my planter.

They are indeed nearly finished flowering as they don't like the cold weather approaching us.  So for me it's time to beat indecisiveness and invest in some winter flowering plants.

Chicken additions

I needed to increase my chicken numbers as some of my older ones are getting a bit past laying much.

I was planning on getting about 4 but saw this group of 7 young ones advertised for sale and couldn't resist.

The rooster was an Orpington which is a breed I'm interested in. They are an old English breed which are friendly & good layers even through the cold winter months.

The chicks mothers were half orpington's so we have ended up with some interesting colour combinations.  They are still young but should start to lay in a couple of months which will be just before winter.

Autumn Sky

We have had a brief autumn storm and the nights have started to get colder.

The storm cleared the air and the skies are beautiful today.

Still sunshine and tee shirt weather when the clouds are like this.

Oh, to be able to paint a sky like Mother Nature!

ABC Wednesday - H

The dogs and I headed for the hills for some 'H' inspiration.

The hills have had a hard hot few weeks and are browning off as we head into autumn.

The dogs love to check out the gullies for hidden rabbits or hares.

Lizzie caught breakfast - a rabbit, even though I wanted a hare for 'H' week.

Lastly a shot of some of my happy, hard-working hens, who are quite at home living in the orchard.
