Much to my delight as well as looking beautiful it has a lovely delicate fragrance. I think it was a sad day when they started breeding roses for looks and vase life and the fragrance was forgotten. Who doesn't take a sniff when they go past a pretty rose.
Luckily the old scented varieties are still around and some of the newer ones are smelling like roses should too.
how very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you that it's sad that some roses have no fragrance. A flower is NOT a rose if it doesn't smell like a rose. Your daughter has good taste. That is a lovely rose. Have a nice weekend Jocee.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos from bud to bloom of your beautiful pink rose. I always bend to smell roses, often disappointed - no fragrance - I think the beauty & smell go hand in hand..cheers
ReplyDeletelovely pink colours! my favourite is dublin bay which is red
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are pretty.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, and has a definite purple tinge to it.
ReplyDeleteHi Jocee, You need to fix your link from FFF. What a beautiful rose! Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know about the link. :)
DeleteI am always smelling roses when I walk by them in the spring and summer months. This one is so pretty!
ReplyDelete...your roses are wonderful, I love colors and details!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day, Karin
Beautiful rose, the color is wonderful. I love roses but smelling them messes with my allergies so I don't mind it if they don't have a strong scent.
ReplyDeleteSuch a marvelous pink rose. They brighten up in the garden.
ReplyDeleteA lovely gift from your daughter Jocee. I never thought about the scent before but now I think about it, I automatically smell a rose and though I love its beauty, I am disappointed at its lack of scent, and then onto the next until I find it again. Your photos are lovely and thank you so much for linking with Today's Flowers.
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous rose. The colour is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful rose and your photos do it justice. I was tempted to scratch and sniff my computer screen :-) I agree with you about scent. Some of the David Austin old fashioned roses have a delightful fragrance. 'Jude the Obscure' (delicious almost fruity scent) is probably the most fragrant, with 'Gertrude Jekyll' (a perfectly balanced old rose fragrance), 'Lady Emma Hamilton' (a deliciously fruity fragrance), 'Wild Edric' (a blend of old rose and clove) and 'Jubilee Celebration' (another lovely fruity fragrance).
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking part in Floral Friday Fotos, I look forward to your future contributions.
