Echinacea Flower

Echinacea @ Jocees Farm

Echinacea is a member of the daisy family and is sometimes called the Purple Coneflower.  They flower right through the summer months.

I bought this plant last year to see how it went here. It had a few flowers and did OK but this year it is putting a a great show.

The name, Echinacea, was derived from a Greek word meaning 'hedgehog' due to the spiny looking central disk.

  3. They are so pretty. I have a lot of them in my garden. I like that they come back every year and bloom all summer long. Butterflies like them as well. : ) I'm looking forward to warmer weather.

  6. Great your Echinaceas do so well in your garden, I love them too but they don't survive in my wet garden.

  8. Love the color. It seems like I've seen echinacea extract for sale in the health food isle (or maybe I'm thinking of something else entirely; it is possible!) I always look at those natural remedies when I'm buying my vitamins, but I never do buy any of them.
