Ram Time

Ram time - @joceesfarm.blogspot.com

It's that time of year when the rams get to have some fun/do some work.  They have about 6 weeks when they are in with the girls, then the rest of the year is all about eating, sleeping and preparing themselves for the year ahead.  A very tough life!

They have been next door to the ladies for a couple of weeks, pacing the fence and sweet talking whoever will listen.

I moved them into a new paddock and then let the girls in.  The boys came running.

"Well helloooo ladies"

That's about as long as it took for introductions - I'm guessing you can work out the rest.
Lamb photos to follow - in about 5 months.

Chicks update

Chicks @ joceesfarm.blogspot.com

These are the 2 chicks that hatched out in early February.  I wrote about them here if you want to check them out when they were little.  Five weeks later and they have grown so fast.  It is years since I have bought up chicks and had forgotten the speed that they grow.

My daughters have named them.  This one is Davina, or Dave if he turns out to be a boy.

And this one is Cammie or Cam if he is of the male persuasion.  That's Lucy watching over them in the background.

I'm still hoping they are both girls but I have a feeling that Davina is going to be a Dave.  Oh well my neighbour needs a new rooster so he may get to rule the roost next door.

Late summer view

Summer views @ joceesfarm.blogspot.com

My destination was the seat on top of the hill.  This is the high point on the farm.  It's a bit of a walk, and certainly warms you up, but it's worth the effort.  My Dad and I towed, dragged and muscled this seat up here years ago.  It was quite a job, not sure how we did it, more good luck and will power than brains I think!

Nearly there and I'm ready for a sit down.  It is a great place to sit and think ..... or to empty your mind and just enjoy.

The views are great - this is looking to the left,

And looking to the right,

And sitting back and looking straight ahead.  Sometimes a crazy idea is worth the effort.
