Shearing the Lambs.

Shearing time for the lambs.

On Monday all the lambs were shorn.  This is them all penned up the night before to stay dry and be ready for an early start.

This is Kelly being shorn.  When she's done she goes for a slide down the hole and ends up under the floor.

This is Kelly coming out under the shed and heading for the grass.

Everyone is heads down eating for a while when they come out, catching up on not eating for a few hours.

This is Kelly later on in the morning, looking all ears and a lot smaller.  A good job done and she's still cute.

  5. They are so cute! They always look so small...and cold...after they're shorn! I love how they're all looking at the camera in the last picture.

  6. lovely photos. do you really name all of your sheep? that is a lot of names to keep track of! I am surprised to see just the one man holding the sheep and shearing. I do not know what I thought was done, but I'd expect the sheep to struggle a bit and wow, it must be a lot of work to hold them still and shear at the same time! I bet when the job is done the sheep aren't the only ones catching up on their eating!

    1. We only name the hand reared ones, only 2 from last years lambing. We only have 6 named sheep all up. The shearer learns how to hold the sheep so they don't move, although the lambs can wriggle a bit. It's a pretty quick job so they don't have time to get too restless.

  10. I love how all your animals have names Jocee. Kelly is such a poser and still looks cute even after losing her woolly coat.
